Viltrox is now making their AF 33mm f1.4 and AF 56mm f1.4 compact lenses available in Sony E mount for APS-C mirrorless cameras. These two Viltrox lenses are also available in Fuji X-mount.
Furthermore, Viltrox is known for well-build and quite affordable manual and autofocus lenses for popular mirrorless systems such as the Sony E-mount.
Compact Autofocus Lenses for Sony APS-C
The Viltrox AF 33mm f1.4 should yield a field of view roughly that of a 50mm lens on a full-frame camera. And thanks to its compact size and lightweight footprint (just 270g), it is almost invisible when mounted to a APS-C camera like the Sony a6600 or a6300. Moreover, other compatible cameras include the Sony a6000, a6100, Sony a6400, a6500 and others.
That is not to say that you can’t use these lenses on “non-supported” Sony APS-C cameras, it’s just that you won’t get autofocus support on older models such as the Sony NEX line.
Both lenses have a small USB port on the back of the mount for firmware updates. In addition, when it comes to build quality those familiar with other Viltrox lenses will not be disappointed – you get a solid metal body.
Viltrox AF 33mm f1.4 Sony E-mount
On the AF 33mm users can benefit from an advanced optical construction including 10 elements arranged in 9 groups, including an Extra-Low Dispersion element. The maximum aperture of f1.4 when paired with the 9 blade design will help you get some creamy and pleasant out-of-focus backgrounds. Also, the lens features a smooth focus ring and an aperture ring for when you want to go into manual mode.
The autofocus system should be pretty silent and smooth thanks to the STM motor, while Sony features like Eye AF support and also included.
Viltrox AF 56mm f1.4 for Sony E-mount
The 56mm lens shares many of its characteristics and features with the AF 33mm f1.4 such as an STM motor, Eye AF support, and a USB port at the back for firmware upgrades.
Furthermore, the HD nano coating is the same as on the 33mm f1.4, while the build quality again, should not disappoint thanks to its overall rugged metal build. The focal length is equivalent to roughly 85mm on a full-frame camera, making this lens more suitable for portrait photography.
The optical formula encompasses 10 elements in 9 groups, in addition to a 9 blade aperture design for smooth and silky bokeh.
