Scotland-based Blind Spot Gear outfit has just announced some awesome USB-C power cables for your BMPCC 4K and 6K cameras.
Referred to as “Power Pipes”, theses USB-C power delivery cables are an excellent budget power alternative to expensive V-mount batteries. In essence, they convert PD power to 12V or 8.4V ensuring your devices get proper power delivery.
Pricing starts from $40 USD (£40 GBP respectively) and you can find links to where you can order at the bottom of this post.
In addition, the Power Pipes come in three different versions:
- 12V version with a DC barrel for powering Atem Mini switchers for example
- 12V to LEMO-style cable for the BMPCC 4K/6K
- and also an 8.4V version for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.
Furthermore, the Power Pipes are compatible with many power banks, however they do need to be able to output 12V, 3A minimum. Do check out the specs of your power bank, this should be noted there.
In addition, they are also compatible with USB-C extension cables (sold separately), and you can also use them to get power from AC outlets.
