Tilta introduces a Sony a7C cage that you can expand with top and side handles. The full cage starts at just $69 USD.

Available in the familiar Tilta Gray or Black color schemes, the new Tilta Sony a7C cage offers a sleek but durable design, that doesn’t break the bank.

The top of the cage features numerous 1/4″-20 mounting points for accessories in addition to a built-in cold shoe on the top left. This could be useful for attaching a compact on-camera microphone for example.

Nevertheless, the Sony a7c may not have the robust video frame rates codec of the mighty Sony a7sIII, but it is a popular (and much more affordable) option for vlogging or using on gimbals.

Furthermore, video creators often use it a B-cam or an overhead cam. And given its more petite footprint, it is a bit easier to rig on handheld gimbals or just carry around for street photography.

Tilta is offering the cage in a few configurations:

  • Full Cage for Sony a7C – $69
  • Tiltaing Kit A – for $135 including a top handle
  • Tiltaing Sony a7C Kit B – $119, which features a wooden side handle in lieu of a top handle
  • Sony a7C Tiltaing Kit C – for $399 which includes the Top Handle, Side Handle, matte box and accessories. See full breakdown of what’s included below:
    • Full Camera Cage for Sony a7C
    • Left Side Wooden Handle
    • Advanced Side Handle Attachment Type VII
    • Tiltaing Lightweight Quick Release Top Handle

Exploring the Tiltaing Kit C, which comes with lots of bells and whistles, including the full cage. Tilta calls this “complete protective armor for the Sony a7C camera.”

As mentioned above, the cage provides several 1/4”-20 mounting points, 2 x cold shoe mounting points as well as Rod Attachment Port which supports an included Single Rod Holder. In addition, this allows users to easily secure a 15mm rod to your cage.

The base of the cage also provides several mounting points when attaching your camera to gimbals to more easily fine tune the balance of your setup.

The top-of-the-line Kit C includes a 15mm LWS Baseplate and a set of 15mm rods, which allows easy mounting of rod based accessories such as follow focus systems, matte boxes and optional power supply configurations.

In addition, the included Manfrotto Quick Release Plate allows users to easily mount this cage to any Manfrotto receiver.

The included Quick Release Top Handle and Left Side Wooden Handle can be attached to the cage to provide different ways to comfortably operate your camera setup.

As mentioned before, Kit C includes the Tilta Mini Matte Box, which is a really neat accessory. It is basically a lightweight solution for lenses with a front diameter of 87mm or less. This matte box mounts directly to lenses via filter thread adapter rings or via a single 15mm rod mount.

The Mini Matte Box supports a single 4×5.65 filter, circular filters and a Top Flag to prevent light flares.

Finishing up the kit is the Tilta Mini Follow Focus, which mounts to any standard 15mm rod and natively supports any sized cinema lens or photo lens via focus gear rings.

This follow focus rotates 360 degrees, includes adjustable hard stops and features a fluid dampening system that helps with precision focusing.
