Sound Devices has just released their new iPad compatible SD-Remote companion app for the 8-Series Portable Mixer-Recorders. Supported mixers include Sound Devices 888, 883 and Scorpio.
The Sound Devices SD-Remote app allows sound mixers to remotely control their mixer-recorder from iOS compatible tablets such as iPad. Previously, SD-Remote was only available for Android tablets.
Sound Devices SD-Remote for iPad is released together with firmware version 3.21 for the 8-Series Mixer-Recorders.
As such, the series includes Scorpio, 888, and Sound Devices 833. In addition to supporting SD-Remote for iPad, Version 3.21 includes improved Bluetooth LE connectivity for Android SD-Remote.
Also, Android SD-Remote has received a software update.
Sound Devices SD Remote for iPad
With SD-Remote, sound mixers can quickly access transport controls, edit metadata, write Take Notes, monitor outputs, and arm/disarm/mute/solo channels.
In addition, Large-scale meters are available for all channels, and the current timecode is displayed on every screen. Thus allowing for easy monitoring.
Remote control via Bluetooth LE allows a mixer to control their Scorpio, 888, and 833 from afar.

This release comes after 8-Series Firmware Version 3.20, in which SD-Remote for Android received the ability to connect over Bluetooth LE. Previously, sound mixers needed a hardwired USB connection to use SD-Remote for Android.
