Sound Devices firmware v4.00 for the 8-Series Portable Mixer-Recorders including 888 and Scorpio is now available to download. Moreover, the 8 Series recorder/mixers from Sound Devices include the high-end Scorpio, 888, and 833.
Furthermore, Firmware update v4.00 includes support for the newly released Sound Devices CL-16 Linear Fader Control Surface, and new features such as bus soloing. In addition, the new firmware also brings new options for custom output and SD card naming.
Custom-Designed Control Surface
Sound Devices designed the new CL-16 after receiving numerous request from sound professionals for a custom control surface for the 888 and Scorpio. Sound professionals required a control surface that combined the simplicity of traditional analog consoles. But also, one that combined the power and flexibility of digital consoles.
The Sound Devices CL-16 features dedicated, non-banking controls for channels 1-16, 16 ultra-smooth Penny & Giles faders, multiple soft-touch buttons for key functions, and a fantastic panoramic LCD.
The CL-16 measures at 16.3-inches wide, fits easily in a cart, and operates from 12V DC. Firmware v4.00 needs to be installed on the Sound Devices 888 and Scorpio to connect to the CL-16. Sound Devices is now shipping the CL-16 to dealers worldwide. You can order it from your local Sound Devices authorised dealer.
Firmware v4.00 Improvements
Additionally, with v4.00, sound professionals can customize the names of outputs and SD cards. Buses are now able to be soloed during playback for quick access to monitoring mixes.
Other changes include a “Require Shift for Mute” option for third-party controllers, channel bus sends available in bus screens, and various stability enhancements.
