Sony has just released firmware update v3.00 for the Sony RX0 II transforming the action camera into a high-quality webcam for streaming.

Firmware v3.00 update allows video creators to easily utilize its high-quality video and audio for livestreaming by simply connecting the camera directly to a PC or a Sony Xperia smartphone.

From rugged action cam to high-quality webcam

Supported smartphones include Sony Xperia 1 II or Xperia 5 II upgraded to Android 11.

Furthermore, just like the firmware update for the Sony ZV-1, which was released back in February, this update for the RX0 II will support UVC/UAC.

Moreover, users can easily connect the Sony RX0 II to a PC or a Sony Xperia via USB cable to utilize the high-quality video stream and built-in microphone for crystal-clear audio for everyday uses from livestreaming via social media platforms to video conferencing.

It should be noted however that this firmware update is compatible with Windows 10, and MacOS 10.14, 10.15, 11 running on Intel Macs only. Strangely enough, this firmware update is not available for the latest Macs running M1 Apple Silicon chips.
