RODE Microphones announced you can now purchase the VideoMic Me-C microphone for tablets and smartphones as a standalone item. The USB-C microphone is priced at $79 USD.

As some of you may recall, the VideoMic Me-C was initially only available as part of the RODE Vlogger Kits, however you can now buy it on its own, without getting the full kits and save money.

Compact Vlogging Mic for your Android Smartphone or Tablet

Furthermore, the RODE Vlogger Kits are available in three versions, which include cable-less versions for iOS (iPhone) devices and Android (USB-C) as well as a Universal Kit with a 3.5mm cable for other mobile devices. These kits are all priced at $149.

In addition, the new RODE Vlogging Kits feature a high-quality RØDE VideoMic, a mini tripod, phone grip, a pocket LED light and basically everything you need to create pro looking (and sounding) video content on a smartphone.

What is the VideoMic Me-C microphone? Can I use it with iPad or Android?

In a nutshell, the RODE VideoMic Me-C is a high-quality microphone designed to be used with USB-C mobile devices. These can be both smartphones and tablets.

The microphone’s directionality reduces surrounding noises to focus on exactly what you’re filming, ensuring your videos sound clear and intelligible. Furthermore, the incluided 3.5mm jack provides a headphone output for audio monitoring and playback.

Moreover, the VideoMic Me-C comes with a mic clip to ensure the mic is secure and a furry windshield suitable for filming in outdoor and adverse weather conditions.

And last, but not least, the VideoMic Me-C is compatible with most mobile devices that have a USB-C input and are running the latest operating system (Android OS 10/iOS 11 or higher).

Be sure to get the VideoMic Me-L version, which is compatible with Apple’s Lightning port, if you are using an iPhone. USB-C tablets from Apple using USB-C, will be fine with the USB-C version of the Me-C mic.
