The March 2021 update to Adobe’s flagship video editing apps Premiere Pro 15.0 and After Effects 18 is here and available to download.
New features and improvements include a new captions workflow in Premiere Pro, a more efficient Compassion toolbar in AE and also new built-in presets for Premiere Rush.
Furthermore, the latest update also brings extended format support, which now gives editors the ability to natively import ARRI Alexa Mini footage in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Media Encoder.
New Captions Workflow for Premiere Pro 15.0
Captions and subtitles are now a vital part of every piece of content distributed via social media. And in the latest update, working with captions has been significantly improved. The new Captions workflow in Premiere Pro transforms the process of stylizing and delivering captioned videos.
Captions are now integrated seamlessly into editorial, connecting text with the Timeline and the design tools in the Essential Graphics panel, so you can make better videos and do it faster.
Warp Stabilizer Tool – now faster
Shaky footage is often a pain to deal with. However, Warp Stabilizer has been getting better and better with each update. In the latest update for both Premiere Pro and AE, Adobe says their software engineers have made it even faster.
Warp Stabilizer now takes less time to analyze shaky footage while leaving the actual stabilization process unchanged. The result is that the quality of the stabilization is as good as before – just way faster. Adobe claims Warp Stabilizer is now 4x faster in stabilizing 4K footage.
24 New Color Presets in Premiere Rush
Also new in the March 2021 update is the addition of new color presets to Premiere Rush. The desktop and mobile editing app now gets 24 new, built-in presets to speed-up your grading workflow.

Improved Composition Toolbar for After Effects 18.0
The new Composition toolbar in After Effects allows users to work seamlessly across both 2D and 3. This is achieved by surfacing the most-used composition tools based on context.
Likewise, this avoids the need to constantly enable/disable a large number of settings as you switch back and forth. The updated Composition panel toolbar has been reorganized and displays options dynamically, based on the currently selected layer.
Media Replacement in Motion Graphics (After Effects)
Motion Graphics templates have become an inseparable part of quick-turnaround content destined for social media. In the latest update, the power of After Effects onto the Premiere Pro timeline with customizable graphics and animations.
And now, thanks to the new Media Replacement function, editors can now swap out specified media within a template, such as logos and video clips. Furthermore, this gives video creators even more creative freedom to make their work stands out from the crowd.
Multi-frame Rendering in After Effects
This feature provides up to 300% faster rendering when exporting compositions with multi-core CPUs. In addition, a more streamlined Render Queue now highlights the most important information to simplify the export process.
