The new LUMIX S 20-60mm sports a compact, lightweight design with a decent FOV coverage from the ultra-wide 20mm to the more standard 60mm focal length. In addition, the lens has a stunning close-up capability of 5.9 inches/0.15m (max magnification 0.43x) for near macro use.
Standard Zoom Range Without Focus Breathing
Furthermore, the new LUMIX standard zoom lens also ensures smooth, high quality video recording because of a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing. This phenomenon occurs when you zoom in or out, but the focus drifts slightly. Panasonic claim that their new 20-60mm L mount has eliminated this issue. And this is indeed great news for videographers and stills photographers.
Advanced Optical Design for Pristine Image Quality
The new Lumix zoom boats an impressive optical design with 11 elements arranged in 9 groups. And those also include 2 aspherical lenses and 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses. These have been designed to combat both axial and chromatic aberration of magnification.
Also, astigmatism is corrected with the help of these aspherical lenses, achieving high resolving performance. Furthermore, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens achieves uniform image quality from the center to edges of the image.
Compact Design and Weather Resistance
As far as size and measurements go, the new lens weighs just 350g making it easy to carry around. All while the rugged dust/splash-resistant design allows photographers and video creators to get great images even in harsh conditions at 14°F / -10°C.
In addition, a fluorine coating on the front element repels water and oil and prevents them from attaching. The front filter diameter is 67 mm, with a 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm.
