Nikon has officially confirmed the Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II will be announced on October 14th, 2020. The company teased a countdown clock recently on their Twitter profile.

So far, we know that DJI will also be announcing a new Ronin S2 and SC2 (also known as DJI RS2) gimbals sometime in October. You can see the teaser announcement here.

However, Nikon has been struggling in the video-oriented hybrid market, dominated by heavyweights such as Sony and Canon. Sure, they recently announced the Nikon Z5, but this is an entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera with limited 4K video functions.

The upcoming Sony a7sIII and the recently released Canon EOS R5, appear to be favourites among videographers and video creators, but Nikon seeks to gain some form of a foothold with their 2nd generation Z6 and Z7.

Will Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II Have Better 4K Video Specs?

The current Nikon Z6 and Z7 sadly, didn’t make the dent Nikon were hoping for, however the Z7 II and Z6 II may change that.

No word yet on specs, but we’re hoping for a solid internal 4K 10bit 4:2:2 codec, 4K/120fps and possibly external ProRes RAW recording.

In addition, B&H Photo and Video has already posted place-holders for both the upcoming Z6 II and Z7 II.
