Meike’s third full-frame cine prime is scheduled to ship in early May

Meike 85mm T2.1 FF cine lens

Budget cine lens maker Meike has announced their third full-frame cine prime – the new Meike 85mm T2.1, which will be shipping in early May.

The compact size and weight of just over 1100g makes this new 85mm T2.1 prime a solid proposition for any video professional or enthusiast looking expand their lens arsenal.

The Meike 85mm T2.1 covers full-frame sensors and will be available in popular lens mounts including Canon EF, RF, Sony E as well as industry standard PL. Leica L mount is also included for those using Panasonic full-frame cameras.

Meike Lenses – Trio of Full-Frame Cine Primes, Now Available

Furthermore, the new Meike 85mm T2.1 has a minimum focus distance of 85cm, an 11-blade aperture for some smooth bokeh and an advanced optical formula. And judging by the quality of the existing 35mm and 50mm, the new 85mm looks promising.

In the past couple of years the industry has seen a serious influx of budget cine primes manufacturers entering the marketplace – from Sigma to Samyang, DZOFilm, and Meike to name just a few.

While Sigma entered the market at what would be considered mid-range price point today, the new Meike cine primes are priced at just around $1K a piece, which is more than a bargain. Of course, you have to do your own tests and evaluate each lens, but just from a value proposition standpoint the Meike lenses offer outstanding value.

In addition to the new 85mm T2.1 FF, earlier last year, Meike also launched the 35mm FF lens, as well as their Meike 50mm T2.1 FF.

At the moment these three represent the budget maker’s full-frame cine prime line-up, which is expected to grow with 4 more lenses this year.

The rest of the Meike Full-Frame Cine range will include a 16mm, 24mm, 105mm, and a 135mm all at T2.1.
