Laowa has announced the pricing on their Laowa 12mm Zero-D Cine Prime.
When it comes to super wide-angle cine lenses, good quality and affordable ones are hard to find. Especially cine primes that cover full-frame and also come standard in PL mount.
Venus Optics have been killing it with their Laowa range in both the photography and cinematography world, and now the innovative lens maker announces the pricing and availability for their highly-anticipated Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine lens.
The Laowa 12mm T2.9 is currently the widest T/2.9 lens that offers large format/full-frame and Vista Vision sensors, making it especially desirable among DPs working with high-end cine cameras.
With large format cinematography seriously taking off, Venus Optics have re-designed their 12mm stills lens and “cine-vized” it to make it more user-friendly to cinematographers. The lens offers an incredible 122 degrees ultra-wide and distortion-free field of view.
When paired with a Super35 sensor camera the ultra-wide Laowa 12mm T2.9 offers a 17mm FOV equivalent, which is still wide enough for most applications.
The 12mm Laowa lens also benefits from an extremely compact and lightweight design despite its extreme optical specifications. The Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine is just 3.4-inches long (about 87mm) and weighs less than 1.5 lb (675g).
The means that it will be perfect for handheld rigs and various stabilizations system including affordable handheld gimbals.
