Venus Optics brings out the “pocket-sized” Laowa 10mm f2 Zero-D lens for Micro Four Thirds, their 2nd MFT lens to carry the Zero-D badge.
The new Laowa 10mm f/2 Zero-D MFT is an ultra-wide fast prime lens with a full-frame equivalent focal length of 20mm. This lens joins the previously released Laowa 7.5mm f/2 MFT and Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D to form an unofficial “wide angle trio”.
Super-Compact Wide-Angle Zoom for MFT
Furthermore, the new 10mm f2 ZeroD is extremely compact and lightweight at just 41mm in length and 4.4oz or 125g. Moreover, a 49mm filter thread gives photographers and video users the ability to use various sizes screw-in filters.
And thanks to its petite size and lightweight footprint, the 10mm f2 is also perfect for using on handheld gimbals.

Wide Perspectives Without Distortion
Despite its compact size, the lens optical design includes a hefty amount of glass – namely 11 elements arranged in 7 groups. Furthermore, this includes 3 ED or extra-low dispersion elements to eliminated unwanted artefacts. As the second MFT lens in the line-up of ‘Zero-D’, it features an excellent control of the optical distortion which is commonly found in ultra wide-angle lenses.
In addition, thanks to its solid optical formula, this lens should be a good option for architectural and interior photography.

Auto Aperture – Electronically Controlled by Camera
The Laowa 10mm f/2 Zero-D MFT has been designed with electronic contacts on the mount and is assembled with a CPU chip and motor which allows you to change aperture via the camera body.
The focus magnifier will be triggered for easier focusing when rotating the focus ring. Also, this means that metadata will be stored on EXIF as well.
Moreover, the fast f/2 aperture, enables the lens to deliver clear and crisp images in low-light scenarios. It works ideally in nightscape shooting and astrophotography. It can also easily render a creamy look at the out-of-focus background.
