PRE-ORDER: Kino Army CINE-X Universal Battery Grip

Utilize the power Sony style NP-F batteries with your BMPCC 4K/6K, Sony A7 III, Panasonic GH5, and many more cameras.

Kino Army Cine X Grip

My good friends at KinoArmy have been working hard on getting out the pre-orders for their KinoArmy Cine-X BMPCC 4K/6K battery grip. And now they are making available to pre-order their Cine-X Universal Battery Grip at a promo price of €409 Euros until the end of March. Pre-orders are estimated to start shipping in early April.

Ultimate Universal Battery Solution

One of the biggest problems with compact cameras like DSLRs and mirrorless cameras is their native battery does not last very long. Likewise, the original Blackmagic Pocket 4K camera often gave users less than 40 minutes of usable battery life from a single Canon LP-E6.

Therefore, one has a choice to make – stock up on 14-18 native batteries, or use larger, cumbersome, and more expensive V-mount batteries. The latter is also far from perfect as it adds significant weight to your camera setup. And while for some camera operators this is not a problem, for those, who prefer to keep our camera setups as light as possible, this becomes an issue.

Use Sony NP-F Batteries to Power Your Camera

The solution is a high quality battery grip like the Cine-X Universal Battery grip from Kino Army. This battery grip uses 2 x Sony NP-F style batteries, which are hot-swappable, giving you an endless supply of “juice” to your camera rig. It provides an estimated 8-9 hours operation with 2 x fully charged NP-F970, depending on connected accessories. Plus the fact that you don’t have to keep buying different batteries when you change your camera is a huge plus.

Sony NP-F style batteries are the most widely available batteries on the market. Additionally, they are used to power small LED lights, cameras, and just about everything else. There are plenty of third party battery manufacturers making quality affordable NP-F style batteries. Such as HedBox, Hawk-Woods, Swit, and many others.

Works with Sony A7 III, Panasonic GH5/s, Canon etc.

Just like on the BMPCC 4K/6K Battery Grip, KinoArmy have implemented the same magnet-based battery technology, which allows for hassle-free removal of the grip. Basically there is a little cable with a magnet at the end which attaches to the battery grip, which can be disconnected when removing the battery grip from the camera with just a slight touch (no excess force necessary, even though the connection is stable, at first when I tried it myself, I thought I was going to snap the cable, but this is a very solid design that will last).

Available dummy batteries include Sony NP-FZ100 (for Sony a7III, a9, a9 ii, a7R IV), Sony NP-FW50 for the Sony a7s/a7sII, batteries for Panasonic GH5/GH5s, and Canon LP-E6. In addition, Kino Army will also be selling different D-Tap cables with various terminations including D-tap to LEMO, D-tap to WEIPU, D-tap to DC Jack and more.

Smart OLED Battery Status Display & Plenty of Mounting Options for Accessories

The CINE-X Universal Battery Grip comes with 2x D-Tap 12v output, 5v USB Out for powering accessories, and a Mini-USB port for firmware updates.

When it comes to the design and feel of this grip, this is not your average cheap battery grip. Machined out of high quality solid aluminium, this is a premium battery grip with plenty of standard 1/4 20, and 3/8 16 mounting points for attaching various accessories. The design also prevents the camera from slipping side to side, and is compatible with most SmallRig accessories. If you are using a BMPCC 6K or 4K with a SmallRig cage, this battery grip fits like a glove.
