Irix has announced a 45mm f/1.4 GFX lens that you can natively use on medium format cameras like the Fuji GFX100 and GFX50R/S. The new lens is currently priced at 845 Euro.
The Irix 45mm f/1.4 GFX is pitched as a pro lens designed for Fujifilm GFX cameras. Furthermore, it offers 102 megapixel resolving power, ultra low-distortion paired
with a durable construction and smooth focus ring for manual focusing. Porting over the quality of their full-frame lenses, it does appear that this will be one hell of a lens.
Irix goes medium format with new 45mm f1.4 GFX for Fujifilm
No stranger to creating unique and high-quality, but also affordable lenses, Irix have also dipped their toes into the Cine Lens game.
Although, currently their cine lens range is quite limited with just four prime lenses stretched at both ends of the focal length spectrum, the company has given indication they are working on filling those holes between the 15mm Cine, the Irix 45mm Cine and the 150mm T3.0 Macro (which is a fantastic lens).
And, it looks like now we know what they have been so busy with – the new 45mm f1.4 medium format lens, many not be geared towards cine/video use, but it does show that Irix as a lens maker, means business.

Irix 45mm f1.4 Medium Format – Focus Lock
The focus lock mechanism on the focus ring is one of the key features of the latest Irix 45mm. Needless to say, this feature is particularly useful when you want to maintain a specific distance to the subject, or when you need to nail infinity focus for landscape photography.
Furthermore, the focus ring on the new 45mm GFX lens is very similar to those used on the Irix DSLR/stills lenses. Irix engineers have developed a durable, yet high-quality and ergonomic ring material characterized by its high mechanical strength and resistance to adverse conditions.
In addition, special texturing allows for reliable and precise focusing, and dedicated embossed dimples allow you to feel the ring’s position even without looking.
