DJI really shook the market just a couple of weeks ago, but as good as their gimbals are, many video creators working on tight budgets can’t afford them. Well, the gimbal segment is thriving and there are a few, more budget-oriented options out there.
Touchscreen Display – Switch Between Modes and Make Camera Adjustments
The new AK2000C from Chinese maker FeiyuTech seeks to bring some features usually found on more premium gimbals such as a touchscreen OLED display to a wider creative audience.
Moreover, the touchscreen OLED makes it possible for users to switch between modes and change ISO, White Balance and other camera parameters (with compatible cameras). And while the manufacturer does not list specific supported cameras, one can safely assume that popular cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji and Panasonic will get support.
Premium Features at a Budget Price-Point
Priced at just $229 USD, the Feiyu AK2000C has a payload capacity of 2.2kgs (nearly 5lbs), which is plenty for most current mirrorless setups. In addition, this payload ensure that you can use a Sony a7III (which is now cheaper than ever) or a Canon EOS R6/R5 for example, with a standard zoom without running into balancing issues.
As a reminder, the touchscreen display is actually a feature of the way more expensive and bigger DJI RS2, and while the RSC2 does have a built-in display, it does not have touchscreen capabilities.

All-Day Battery Life (also Charge While Filming)
And while it may be shy of the 6.6lbs support on the more expensive DJI RSC2 gimbal, the AK2000C does offer locks on all three motors and a 7 hour battery life.
Furthermore, users can charge the battery on the go (while in use), and a full charge can be achieved in about an hour, which is pretty decent.
Dual QR Plate and Intelligent Modes
Other improvements include a dual quick release plate, which gives you more ways to mount different camera setups.
Furthermore, the new AK2000C gimbal also sports an aluminium body with wooden handle accents for a weight of just over a kilo.
Additionally, the new AK2000C features various intelligent modes such as Inception, Selfie mode, Portrait, Timelapse, and Long Exposure.
Wide Range of Accessories
And last, FeiyuTech is working on also bringing a good range of accessories for the AK2000C including a monopod, Portrait-expansion plate, an additional handle, extension bar, and a multi-functional bracket.
Pricing and Availability
The Feiyu AK2000C handheld gimbal is priced at $230 USD and is now in stock at B&H.
