Will DJI announce the highly-anticipated DJI Mavic Air 2 drone at the upcoming event?
DJI “Up Your Game” Event – April 27, 2020!
DJI is teasing a launch event for April 27, 2020 at 9:30pm EDT. And although the particulars of this event remain “officially” unconfirmed, many speculate we may see a new consumer drone.
The Mavic Air 2 seems the most likely candidate, as numerous outlets such as DroneDJ have already reported on leaks. The teaser video from DJI shows (possibly) the top of the new Mavic Air 2. But, of course, we have to wait 12 more days to know for sure.
DJI Mavic Air 2 Possible Specs/Features
Last month, the FCC database showed images of the upcoming Mavic Air 2 drone and a new controller. The FCC test bench images confirmed this speculation.
From the leaks so far, we can infer that the Mavic Air 2 will quite possibly take a shape similar to that of the Mavic Pro. Thus, we can clearly see DJI’s design efforts to homogenise their Mavic lineup.
The DJI Mavic Mini is a replacement for the Spark lineup, so it’s not really a part of the bigger Mavic prosumer drones like the Air, and Pro versions.
The new Air 2 drone is rumored to feature a bigger 3500mAh battery, compared to the 2375mAh battery on the predecessor. This may increase max time flights to 30 minutes. However, there is a big chance the drone will weight over 250grams. Thus, it may require an official registration with authorities.
New DJI Osmo Pocket?
Chances are there may be another new product announced at the April 27 event. At the moment, rumours revolve around a possible DJI Osmo Pocket refresh.
The current model is quite the performer given its size, but audio and image quality improvements would be welcomed in the next version.
