RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM – Compact Telephoto Zoom

This lens is ideal for sport and wildlife photography especially on the enthusiast level. With that said, professionals also get to benefit from the reliable, durable and compact lens. In addition, this zoom is compatible with the new RF Extender 1.4x and RF Extender 2x giving photographers even more scope and creative freedom.

The optical construction includes a single Super UD lens and 6 x UD lenses for effectively minimising chromatic aberration and ghosting/flare artifacts across the entire zoom range. Thus the lens enables photographers to capture stunning high-resolution, high-contrast images at maximum aperture.

Furthermore, the lens provides 5-stop IS, or 6-stops when used with EOS R5 and EOS R6. A Dual Nano USM AF motor is included for accurate and quiet high-speed autofocus. As this is an L-series lens, weather-sealing comes included.

As standard with the RF lenses, the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM features a programmable Lens Control Ring on the barrel, allowing photographers to change settings without taking their eye off the viewfinder.

In addition, an adjustable torque zoom ring enables the zoom action to be made tighter or looser to suit your needs.

Canon RF 600mm and 800mm f11 IS STM Super Telephoto Lenses

The new RF 600mm and 800mm lenses may be really slow at a maximum aperture of f/11, but at least they offer a specialty focal lengths for enthusiast photographers at an entry-level price. They may not be useful for portraiture or other types of photography, but will find a home with enthusiast wildlife aficionados.

Affordable and lightweight the RF 600mm f/11 IS STM and RF 800mm F11 IS STM are new concept lenses offering super-telephoto focal lengths allowing photographers to capture far away subjects in stunning detail.

With a minimum focusing distance of 4.5 meters and 6 meters respectively, you can get close to subjects while maintaining great focus. And, yes – you can even use them with the new extenders for a maximum focal lengths of 1600mm! That’s pretty mind-blowing.

Both lenses are stabilized and also support Dual Pixel CMOS AF when paired with the EOS R5/R6 or other EOS R mirrorless camera.

The new 600mm and 800 also have STM AF motors for extremely quiet and smooth focusing experience.

Canon RF Extender 1.4x and RF 2x

Designed for press, nature and sport photographers often capturing subjects at great distance. Both extenders use the advanced high-refraction, low-dispersion glass to control curvature of field and chromatic aberration of magnification for the highest possible image quality.

They also feature an optimised lens coating and a three-layer combined lens to reduce ghosting.

In addition, both extenders have a heat shield coating to prevent performance deterioration in high temperatures and offer weather sealing when used with a compatible L-series RF lens.

Furthermore, when used with the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM, zoom range is limited to 300 to 500mm when the extender is connected to prevent the lens’s rear elements from hitting those of the extender.
