Blackmagic Design has announced a new Web Presenter 4K model that can livestream in UHD 4K resolution with built-in H.264 encoder.
The new 4K model is a welcomed addition to the Web Presenter family, which up until now was limited to streaming in 1080p/60.
The new devices shares a similar, slim and compact 1/3 rack mount design, however, this time it includes a 12G-SDI input with down converter. Therefore, you can can select to stream in 1080p or Ultra HD (3840 x 216) resolutions.
What is the Web Presenter 4K?
In a nutshell, it is a complete streaming solution that includes a professional hardware streaming engine for direct streaming via Ethernet to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and more.
Not to mention that the built in USB-C allow it to be recognized as a webcam, allowing users to connect to a laptop and use any popular streaming/online conference software, be it Skype, Zoom, or else. The model also also comes packed with redundancy features allowing it to connect to the Internet via Ethernet or a 5G or 4G mobile phone using mobile data.
Furthermore, the unit offers a self contained solution that includes a powerful hardware encoder, software for connecting to streaming platforms, and network connections. This eliminated the need to buy an expensive computer or use complicated streaming software to live stream in 4K or HD.
Compact, Rack-mountable Design
In addition, the unit’s design is based on the modular Teranex Mini design allowing desktop or rack use. Needless to say, this means that the units portable design is only 5.5″ wide, allowing users to mount a total of 3 in a single rack unit, which is a nice option to have when you need to stream to multiple independent services all at the same time.
Moreover, users can combine the Blackmagic Web Presenter units with other products such as the ATEM Television Studio HD switcher for a live production and streaming solution in a single rack unit.
Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K – now with 12G-SDI
In addition, the new 4K model also simulates a USB webcam when connected to computers, and the USB webcam also supports 1080p or 4K UHD resolutions.
Also, to compliment the IO feature set, BMD has included a 12G-SDI loop output allowing users to loop video through multiple units and live stream to multiple services.
And just like its physical design, the Web Presenter borrows the powerful Teranex conversion technology on the SDI input for incredibly clean video. Moreover, the unit also supports automatic down-conversion from 4K to HD.
