Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 17.1 now shipping

The update adds universal app support for M1 Macs and those rocking Intel processors.

Blackmagic Design just announced DaVinci Resolve 17.1 is now out of beta and shipping.

The latest update Resolve adds universal app support for the latest Macs running the new Apple M1 chips or Intel processors.

In addition, other improvements include hardware accelerated encoding and decoding of H.265 10-bit 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 formats on supported Intel platforms. 

Just days ago, the company released H.265 decode/encode as part of Resolve 17.1 Beta 10 version, and now it looks like Resolve 17.1 is ready for the production version. 

Furthermore, this latest update will come in handy to those rocking the new M1 Macs including the Mac Mini and MacBook Pro 13 inch. 


DaVinci Resolve Studio 17.1 – New Features/Improvements

  • Support for Apple Silicon based Mac OS systems.
  • H.265 4:2:2 hardware decode support on Apple Silicon.
  • H.265 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 Intel encode and decode support in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
  • Support for GPU decoding of RED clips in OpenCL processing mode.
  • Option to always perform copy and paste actions on selected color nodes.
  • General performance and stability improvements.

Minimum system requirements for Mac 

  • macOS 10.15 Catalina
  • RAM – 8 GB of system memory
  • 16 GB when using Fusion
  • Blackmagic Design Desktop Video version 12.0 or later
  • Integrated GPU or discrete GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM.
  • GPU which supports Metal or OpenCL 1.2.

Minimum system requirements for Windows

  • Windows 10 Creators Update
  • 16 GB of system memory
  • 32 GB when using Fusion
  • Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 10.4.1 or later
  • Integrated GPU or discrete GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM
  • GPU which supports OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 11
  • NVIDIA/AMD/Intel GPU Driver version – As required by your GPU
  • A minimum NVIDIA driver version of 451.82 is recommended.

Linux – minimum system requirements

  • CentOS 7.3
  • 32 GB of system memory
  • Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 10.4.1 or later
  • Discrete GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM
  • GPU which supports OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 11
  • NVIDIA/AMD Driver version – As required by your GPU
  • A minimum NVIDIA driver version of 450.51.06 is recommended.
