Blackmagic Camera 6.9.3 update adds new international language support and ability to embed custom 3D LUTs into Blackmagic RAW clips to URSA Mini Pro 4.6K.
Note, this update is for the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G1, which is no longer sold through resellers, but quite a few people out there own. It’s nice to see Blackmagic update a discontinued camera, not something many other companies would do.
International Languages Added
Moving along, the latest update adds new international language support. New languages in the latest update include English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. When switching languages, all on screen overlays, setup menus and monitoring information will be displayed in the selected language instantly.
Embed Custom 3D LUTs in Metadata
In addition, URSA Mini Pro 4.6K users can now embed custom 3D LUTs in Blackmagic RAW clips. Furthermore, 3D LUTs can be directly embedded as metadata within the .BRAW file. This makes it easy to display the images with the “look” you want, maintaining creative consistency through post production.
This new update also adds the ability to disable the HFR button to prevent accidentally changing the frame rate between shots. The HFR button can now also be remapped, as can the VTR and return buttons on Cine-servo PL and B4 lenses. In addition, you can now lock timecode to the SDI input. Also, jam sync timecode is maintained between power cycles, and the ND filter icon is always visible on status text when in use.
Improved Audio for URSA Mini Pro
Moreover, the latest update also includes audio improvements. Users can now choose between -18 or -20dB audio alignment levels. Sidetone adjustment for talkback has been added so camera operators can speak loudly in noisy environments while keeping their voice mixed down in their earpiece. Also, Line level XLR input signals can now also be adjusted and audio meters have improved ballistics.
Fine-tuned ISO adjustments
Blackmagic OS has been updated to the latest version and now adds ⅓ stop ISO increments to the ISO slider. In addition, it has the ability to quickly switch media from the heads up display.
Furthermore, the update adds new 2:1, 1:1 and 5:4 frame guides, along with the option for custom frame guides. And lastly, users can benefit from an improved media formatting interface. This makes it less likely to format a card by accident.
With this firmware the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G1 now runs the same software, and shares many of the same features as URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2.
