Blackmagic Design has just announced the new Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro. The company’s new and affordable live production switcher comes with all the features of ATEM Mini plus a new streaming engine!

Built-in hardware streaming engine

ATEM Mini Pro features a new hardware streaming engine to allow direct streaming via its Ethernet connection to YouTube Live, Facebook and Twitch. Hence, this ensures better streaming quality, without dropped frames.

Another major feature is support for recording the stream direct to USB flash disks in H.264 for backup, plus support for recording to multiple disks for continuous recording. Also, the new model includes a multi-view on the HDMI video output that allows all inputs to be monitored on a single monitor, as well as live status of recording, streaming and the audio mixer.

Supports Blackmagic Pocket 4K and 6K Cameras

Blackmagic also released Camera 6.9 Update, which enables ATEM Mini and Mini Pro users to use the BMPCC 4K and 6K Cameras as studio cameras. Read more about it in this post here.

Same form factor, more functionality

The new ATEM Mini Pro shares the same form factor with the ATEM Mini switcher, but adds more functionality and shortcut buttons on the front of the unit. It still has 4 x HDMI inputs, but the built-in encoder enables it to stream live to popular social media platforms via the Ethernet cable.

As with the ATEM Mini, the new switcher allows users to do awesome business presentations using Skype or Zoom. The built in digital video encoder allows exciting picture in picture effects, perfect for commentary. The ATEM Mini Pro also features loads of video effects too.

The ATEM Mini Pro’s USB connection operates as a simple webcam source; the software is tricked into thinking the ATEM Mini is a common webcam, but it’s really a live production switcher.

It offers full compatibility with any video software and in full resolution Full HD quality. Supported streaming software and platforms include:

Full Fairlight Audio Mixer

ATEM Mini features two independent 3.5mm stereo audio inputs, allowing you to connect desktop and lapel microphones. With 2 extra stereo audio inputs, users can ensure a host and guest both have lapel microphones when doing interviews.

ATEM Mini features a full Fairlight audio mixer; all HDMI audio inputs and both microphone inputs are all connected separately to the audio mixer so giving you the ability to do a live mix from all audio sources.

ATEM Software Control App

Unlock all features with ATEM Software Control app

The ATEM Software Control app unlocks the hidden power of ATEM Mini and allows access to every feature in the switcher. ATEM Software Control features a visual switcher user interface with parameter palettes for making quick adjustments. Although users have the option to also connect the switcher to the laptop/computer via USB, users can also connect via the Ethernet port, which allows for multiple users to connect to ATEM Mini using separate copies of ATEM Software Control on different computers.
