Atomos announces Ninja V Pro Kit adding ProRes RAW functionality over SDI, HDMI to SDI cross-conversion and a sun hood.
In essence, the Atomos Ninja V Pro Kit has been designed to bridge the gap between compact cinema and mirrorless cameras that can output Apple ProRes RAW via HDMI or SDI. In addition, the new Ninja V Pro Kit also pushes these cameras’ limits, recording up to 12-bit RAW externally on the Ninja’s on-board SSD.
Furthermore, the Ninja V Pro Kit gives users the ability to cross covert video signals providing a versatile solution for monitoring and playout on set or in the studio.
For existing Ninja V owners Atomos will soon make available to purchase a RAW over SDI license key for $99 USD.
Atomos NINJA V Pro Kit – RAW over SDI and Signal Cross-Conversion
At the heart of the new Pro Kit, we find of course the familiar Ninja V. However, things get a lot more interesting when you add the AtomX SDI with activation for the new RAW functionality, HDMI to SDI cross conversion, along with the locking DC to D-Tap cable to power from the camera’s battery.
And last, but not least, the included 5-inch sun hood seals the deal by giving you a more reliable view option in bright exteriors.
Needless to say, the Ninja V’s compact 5-inch, but quite bright 1000nit touch screen was designed to provide a foundation for scalability and modularity.
And as such, when combined with the AtomX SDI module and some serious tuning under the hood the Pro Kit provides the ability to record RAW via SDI from some of the best compact cinema cameras available.
Supported Cameras: RAW via SDI with Ninja V Pro Kit:
- Panasonic Varicam LT
- 4K/60p RAW
- 2K/240fps RAW

Dual 12G-SDI support with new Ninja V Pro Kit
Adding dual 12G SDI connectivity expands the compatibility with other cameras to provide offboard 10-bit 422 recording in edit ready codecs or as proxy files from RED or ARRI cameras allowing the file naming and timecode from the camera to also be carried via SDI to the recorded files.
Of course, the Ninja V retains its RAW over HDMI support from the ever-expanding roster of mirrorless cameras including the Sony a7S III, Nikon Z-Series, Lumix S Series, Olympus OM-D EM-1X, Olympus OM-D M1 MkIII, Z CAM E2 series and more.
More Output Flexibility for Every Situation
In playback mode the Ninja V provides a lossless signal distribution with 2 x 12G SDI and 1 x HDMI 2.0 for simultaneous outputs up to 4K/60p. When used in combination with the Ninja’s playlist functionality it provides a fast and convenient way to review content or show a highlight reel.
Additionally, RAW inputs can also be de-bayered in real time and non-standard high resolutions are processed to SMPTE standard output formats.
Moreover, conversion to HLG, PQ or your choice of 3D LUT can also be applied allowing for RAW or LOG content to be viewed as intended by the director or DP.
HDMI to SDI Cross-Conversion
Adding the AtomX SDI module to the Ninja V further expands the recorder’s I/O functionality. To complement the inputs, HDMI or SDI connections can be cross converted, DCI cropped and 4K to HD down converts for video signals to provide a bridge between equipment such as EVFs, wireless transmitters/receivers without the need for additional convertors.
